Anyone who takes a step towards counselling is making a brave decision to better understand themselves and gain some tools for improving their emotional well-being, confidence, self esteem, and much more. Just like visiting your doctor for your physical health, taking care of your mental and emotional health is vital. Making this choice is a testament to your strength and wisdom, and I’m here to provide the support and guidance you need on this meaningful journey.
My name is Raissen Pan, but my friends call me Ray. My purpose is to help individuals navigate the complex terrain of their emotions, thoughts, and relationships. With a deep commitment to evidence-based therapeutic approaches, I provide a safe and empathetic space for clients to explore their inner worlds and foster positive change. I am deeply dedicated to your mental wellbeing and am excited to walk alongside you on your path toward emotional healing and personal growth.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in (but not limited to) a blend of Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Psychodynamic Therapy. These methods allow us to explore and understand the underlying emotions, patterns, and beliefs that may be influencing your thoughts, behaviours, and relationships.
But I don’t stop there; recognizing the profound impact of trauma on one’s life, I am committed to providing trauma-informed care. As such, I believe in tailoring therapy to your unique needs, to ensure I provide a safe and supportive environment for healing. That’s why I also integrate techniques from Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness to ensure a holistic approach to your mental and emotional well-being.
Therapy is a collaborative journey, and my role is to support and guide you along the way. In our sessions, we will work together to:
Explore and understand your emotions and thought patterns
Identify and challenge unhelpful behaviours and beliefs
Resolve unaddressed pain and trauma from the past
Cultivate mindfulness and self-compassion
Develop practical strategies to overcome challenges
Encourage personal growth and self-discovery
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alberta, and a Master’s of Counselling from the University of Lethbridge. If you’re ready to take the first step towards positive change and emotional well-being, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your path to personal growth and healing.

Works with Youth (15+ y.o.) Adults & Couples.
I believe positive change and personal growth can best occur through honesty, both with ourselves and the connections we choose to foster. Embracing honesty often requires vulnerability, which may not be easy for everyone, but it’s a crucial step in our journey. I’m dedicated to creating a safe and comfortable environment for my clients, enabling us to tackle their struggles, challenges, obstacles, or any aspect of their lives that demands exploration with sincerity. Speaking our thoughts aloud in a trusted space often brings clarity to our situations and helps us identify what needs attention. At times, a change in perspective is needed. Ultimately, the real work involves acquiring the practical skills to navigate our thoughts, emotions, and actions effectively.
I acknowledge that each person has a unique way of navigating their stories and challenges, so I collaborate with individuals to determine the most suitable therapy or strategies for them. My approach draws from a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to help my clients achieve their goals. By exploring familiar situations from different angles, we can uncover fresh approaches to overcome obstacles and improve relationships.
A wise supervisor once likened finding a therapist to finding the right pair of shoes – it often requires trying a few options before discovering the perfect fit. I hope to be that right fit for you.
I have a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology and attended Trinity Western University to earn a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I was a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia prior to relocating to Alberta, where I continued my practice as a Canadian Certified Counsellor in this amazing province. I am now a Registered Provisional Psychologist and am committed continuing to help individuals on their path to personal growth and well-being. I’m looking forward to our journey together…

Talking about feelings or problems can be intimidating for adults, it can even be more difficult for our youngest clients. There might also be worries about being judged or not knowing what to expect from a stranger - yes, even counsellors! Counselling is really about having a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings, gain new perspectives, and learn skills to navigate life’s ups and downs. Through my background with kids, teens, and young adults from all walks of life, I work to create a space where scary and hard topics feel like they can be approached and overcome. But at the end of the day, counselling is whatever you need it to be.
I am a big believer in self-care - this means gaining a better understanding of all the unique parts that make us who we are and taking care of them as best as we can! Our youngest clients share their most authentic selves with us and we must take care of each part rather than neglecting them because they may take more work. With this in mind, I focus on self-esteem, stress, friendships, family dynamics, and behaviour issues. I blend Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and Adlerian Therapy to give you a toolkit for personal growth. REBT helps you spot and change irrational thoughts and behaviours, while Adlerian Therapy looks at how our past and social interactions shape who we are, emphasizing the need for connection.
Together, these approaches give you the skills to tackle challenges, build healthier mindsets, and nurture meaningful relationships. Growth happens when we step out of our comfort zones—even though it can be scary. In therapy, I help turn that fear into excitement for growth, guiding you through small, positive changes that lead to a happier, stronger life.
I’m a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, having wrapped up my Master’s in Counselling Psychology at City University in 2023.
Therapy isn’t just about diving into tough stuff—it’s about having a natural, supportive relationship with your therapist. I’m all about bringing a fresh perspective, sharing a few laughs, and having honest chats during our time together.
In sessions, my personality really shines through—I’m the type to crack a bad joke or sketch a mediocre doodle. When I’m not in session, you can catch me with my nose in a book, enjoying music with the windows down, or diving into some serious self-care.

“Relationships in which you can genuinely care and be cared for. Meaningful roles that challenge you and allow you to contribute to the world around you. Freedom to be curious, to explore, and to experience.”
To me, mental wellness means the ability to connect deeply, take purposeful action, find space to play, and allow yourself to rest. Counselling provides a space to explore the patterns in your relationships, emotions, or thoughts that might be getting in the way. There are reasons you’ve become who and where you are—and there are strengths in you that can support healing and growth.
Therapy can help you better understand yourself, clarify what you need, and move toward a more full and balanced life. My role is to truly listen—whether you have the words or not. I’ll follow your lead in discovering what you want from counselling and from life, while also helping guide the path forward.
How I Work
My approach is grounded in emotion-focused and family systems therapies. Whether I’m working with individuals, couples, or families, I believe emotions—when felt or absent—hold essential clues to what matters most and what’s needed next.
Therapeutic Approaches I Use:
Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, The Gottman Method, and The Developmental Model of Couples Therapy to help families and couples shift patterns of connection and communication—safely, together.
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) to help families interrupt and de-escalate cycles involving self-harm or intense behavioural concerns.
For individuals (youth and adults), I integrate Emotion-Focused Therapy with tools from CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and Art Therapy to meet you where you are.
I also have specialized training in trauma-focused and trauma-informed care, supporting those who have experienced abuse, neglect, or relationship disruptions that continue to impact their present lives.
